“Telfair was named the ‘Community of the Year’ in 2010 by the Greater Houston Builders Association. This new development will only enhance the amenities we have to offer our residents. The addition of an H-E-B grocery store, restaurants and shops will give residents not only greater convenience, but also more opportunities to enjoy our community, which is what Telfair is all about,” said Ted Nelson, president – central region, Newland Real Estate Group.

Rubicon Realty, a full-service commercial real estate company specializing in mixed-use property development, originally purchased 112 acres of land from the developer of Telfair in 2006 from Newland Communities, and sold 15.3 of those acres to San Antonio-based grocery chain, H-E-B last December. This new development will sit within walking distance of Bonaventure Place, which currently includes a 200 room Hilton Garden Inn, a future office building, a bank, a Mediterranean restaurant and a medical office building.

Additionally, Rubicon Realty Group will develop the remaining land, to include another hotel, a performing arts center and a family entertainment center. Construction is expected to begin in June 2011 with openings to commence in 2012.

“Telfair is already home to the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Sugar Land location, as development continues to progress we will have a state-of-the-art performing arts center and a family entertainment center. With the new minor league baseball stadium on the opposite corner of US 90 and Highway 6 this area is fast becoming an entertainment district within Sugar Land,” said G.
